Out Of Town Events -- No Time To Rest! It's Fetish Season!

Fetish Season 1998 will see the TWO parties of the TWO biggest Fetish Magazines in recent history in TWO different parts of the world. First a treat a great many of us have been waiting for -- > Magazine's First U.S. Party in Los Angeles. Then, that singular event which pretty much defines the European half of the perennial Fetish Season -- The SKIN TWO Rubber Ball and Accompanying Events in London. Concurrently with London's Famous Festival, there will be an interesting sounding party in Las Vegas, and a Vampiric twist on the Fetish theme in New Orleans. Read on........

Los Angeles:

Saturday, October 17th --
"O" Magazine and Vampire Technology Present: Bacchanalia '98

For most details, check out http://www.o-magazine.com/bach/ For those of you who don't know, "O" Magazine has always been one of the more respected Fetish magazines in the world. That they will be gracing the U.S. with a party open to the public is quite a special event. The venue promises to be quite large, with a Strict Fetish Dress Code, DJ's, & Bands as well as Art Exhibits by well known Fetish Artists Gary & Pierre Silva, John Abrahamson and Steve Diet Goedde AND a Fashion Show! It has been confirmed that there will be S&M / dungeon furniture to play on, so bring those toys!
Tickets are available Online ONLY. Amongst other things, this will allow the proprietors to classify the event as a "private party," and thus many restrictions will be circumnavigated -- in other words, this will probably be one hell of a wild party!!! ;-)

Ongoing, Every Tuesday in Los Angeles --
The Rack

THIS CLUB HAS BEEN CLOSED
Please see Events page for up-to-date info

at The Martini Lounge, 5657 Melrose Ave in Hollywood Doors open at 10:30 pm, $5. Industrial / Darkwave / Alternative music.
Strict Dress Code: Goth-Vampyre-Fetish-Formal ONLY! All slaves on a leash get in free!
More and more we are seeing our Gothic brothers and sisters come away from their definition of S&M as "Stand & Model" and begin to truly taste the nectar of our beautiful Fetish world. Fetish elements increase in number daily amongst Gothic accouterment. Slowly but surely the Fetishists amongst the Goths are coming out of their coffins (at least when it's dark) to embrace the sweet alternative sexuality of S&M, perhaps even incubating a whole new sub-culture in itself.....
The Rack promises to be a club where the two worlds, Gothic and BDSM, can meet seamlessly. Goths can feel comfortable amongst their peers as they explore the bounds of deliciously applied or received pain, and Fetishists can enjoy the velvet elegance of the Goth universe at this middle-ground club run by Jack of the notoriously wonderful Fang Club. The presence of La Petite Chateau promises a very genuine S&M aspect, and The Convent is a well-known Goth / Fetish Club by night and pro-domme dungeon by day. Nice combo, aye? DJ's will be spinning Goth-Industrial.
For the truly Vampirically-inclined amongst you, don't forget that the Anne Rice Vampire Ball will be the next evening, Halloween Night, in New Orleans as well. I expect that MANY of the attendees of "Requiem" will again be seen at the famous Vampire Ball the next night. Best get tickets in advance. LeDungeon may have advice where to get those. Review -- TRANCEPTOR: Vampire Dreams
Try not kick yourself for missing this....

On Tuesday, Sept. 29th, a mixture of styles gathered to celebrate the release of Michael Manning's new graphic novel TRANCEPTOR. People came in head to toe rubber, rave clothes, spandex, jeans, leather, and almost any other fabric you can imagine to see what Mr. Manning had cooked up for the evening. It was a good crowd of about 200 people at the DNA mostly chatting about everything under the sun.
For the meager $5 admission, you were treated to a variety of shows, a DNA Lounge decorated with Michael Manning's unique artwork adorning most of the walls (some even turned into a kind of wall paper!), some shows, a free raffle, and some fabulous shows. Did I mention they had shows?
The evening's entertainment began with San Francisco's Midori performing a kind of "fantasy bondage" demonstration while dressed in her dark-angel costume. Later we were presented with Molly from So Hip It Hurts giving us a demonstration on the ancient martial art of "the 4-bar Nun-chaku (4 rods with a few links between the rods) whilst dancing in high heels clad in a rubber catsuit," a very popular martial art in may parts of the Fetish world. ;-)
The evening heated up further when, after an interlude of live ambient/synthesizer music, one Suzy Ming came out and contorted for the audience (no, not in pain -- she is a Contortionist). In the mean time, Michael was signing his books that he was selling there at the club. Of course at one point they held the raffle of original artwork.
NONETHELESS, above and beyond all of this, those of us who stayed to the end were treated to what I honestly consider to be one of the single best pieces of performance art I have seen anywhere in at least the last 2 or 3 years. It began when Jade Blue came out onto a stage which was covered in black plastic with a kiddie pool off to one side. Jade, an exotic dancer and martial artist amongst other things, picked up the microphone standing there in her furry high-heel boots and not a whole lot else. She began to talk straight at the audience about a series of events in her life that left her deprived of hope, some pretty dark stuff. She broke into a dance, showing off her athletic physique and then returned to the microphone.....(I laugh here because this is when quite a few people left as the hour was getting late and who hasn't seen an exotic dancer?....BIG MISTAKE. Heh....). After talking to the audience a bit more, she then put the microphone carefully aside and danced to the ground and then over to the kiddie pool.
She reached into the pool and then lifted her arm into the air -- it was red. Red like ketchup? No. Red like paint? No. It was Red like Blood. Having hung around Hollyweird, I looked closely for the tell-tale signs of Karo Syrup & Red Food Coloring as is used in SOOO many slasher flicks. The tell-tale signs were absent. The mood in the room changed dramatically as EVERYONE stopped talking or doing anything else and watched the mesmerizing red fluid wind its way down her arm.
The music continued, and Jade placed both arms completely in the pool and raised them into the air soaked in Blood (My guess: cows blood). We watched half-captivated and half-wondering how far this would go or whether it would rapidly blow-over. It didn't. Without missing a beat, Jade suddenly placed her Whole Body into the pool and rose up like some Kaliesque vision covered in Blood. She danced and smeared the blood upon herself from head to toe, in her hair, in her crotch....she went back into the pool and rolled in it, all but swam in it, and again danced for us to see this Vampiric goddess's tribute to the Flesh.
She paused for a minute, wiped off a hand, reached over and gingerly picked up the microphone and the page she was reading from. No one wanted her dance to stop; no one wanted this immersion in the vicarious realization of every Vampire's dream-orgasm to come to an end......but we were hypnotized by that point, and whatever Jade had planned, the audience was going along.
She read only a few sentences, and then returned to her dance -- more blood, more emotion, perfect in her tension, perfect in her release. Slowly from behind her a figure clad in black with black wings mounted a ladder recently brought onstage during Jade's last speech. The figure carried a large watering can. Jade danced her way under the watering can, kneeled in the pool still dancing, smeared more blood upon herself, and then waited. The figure began to pour and we wondered what it would be.
Was it water? No, too thick, too white. MILK washed over Jade and ran down her body in rivulets. The Milk flowed in a miniature spring shower, and Jade looked up and into the white shower not so much as if being reborn, but rather as if the 2nd part of her initiation had arrived. Like the blood, she embraced the white fluid with her whole body, smearing it everywhere. The deep red turned pink as the two fluids mixed into a transcendent color attainable by no other combination. You could FEEL the union of these two different fluids of life, like sexual fluids meeting during orgasm. It was guttural, it was exalted, it was chaos, it was perfection.
As the two fluids were stirred upon the surface cauldron of Jade's chaotically immaculate form, she began to take on a new look, as if covered in Placenta. Here stood a fully developed adult covered in this contemporary incarnation of the very fluid she began life in. No doubt the appearance of truly being reborn was intended. All that was missing was a giant womb for her to extrude from. But the stage and the pool were here surrogate womb, the mixture of Blood and Milk her Placenta, and her Dance the throes of being born. When Jade at last finished her dance, I don't think anyone in the audience had the slightest doubt that we had just watched Jade be reborn....and many felt reborn with her.
