DEVIANT Strikes It Big!

________________________

Good to hear when one of our "Local Boys" strikes it big. Looks like the S.F. Bay Area's very own DEVIANT Liquid Latex made the grade when they received this highly visible write up in PLAYBOY. Word has it that they have had so many orders since that they can hardly keep up! Congratulations to DEVIANT. :-)

Here's the verbiage from the September '99 issue of PLAYBOY Magazine (U.S. edition, Potpourri section, page 178) that went alongside a picture of a delicious creature peeling off her liquid latex top: " 'From the mainstream to the Extreme' is the slogan of Deviant Liquid Latex, and if you can't think of 1001 ways to enjoy this kinky product, you shouldn't be reading Playboy. The stuff is a nontoxic formulation derived from tree sap that can be painted onto the body to form a "second skin". After applying three or more coats, the new you can be stretched as pictured here and won't peel off for hours. Nineteen colors are available, along with a Stardust cosmetic powder for special effects (rollers and brushes are included). The price for a kit is $32.95, but you might want to check out liquidlatex.net before calling Deviant in California at 408-971-6366."

DELICIOUSLY DANGEROUS.....

A reader sent this in responding to the question I posed last issue r.e. "Does Fetish Attire Make you Feel Dangerous?" in light of how Hollywood loves putting dangerous people in Fetish Clothes (Nikita, The Matrix, etc).

"To answer your survey:

Yes, dressing in fetish wear (i.e., latex, PVC, leather, etc) does definitely change my attitude and demeanor and give me an air of danger. The leather clad dominatrix is such a prevalent stereotype throughout our society that one just needs to minimal fetish wear and find themself treated in such a manner different from the norm. But then, isn't that what it is supposed to do? PVC and rubber, especially when shined, really does wonders for most any figure! But it makes one feel dangerous in a good way. Self assured, I guess would be a better term." Anyone else? Does Fetish Attire Make You Feel Dangerous? ;-)

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC jumps on-board

Wow. Just when you thought Fetish had infiltrated about as much as it was going to for this year, with its presence in the Paris Collections and all, where do we suddenly find a rather stark Fetish Image? Yep, National Geographic, the very bread and butter of Middle America's Global Cultural News and Reporting. Shocked? Ok, try this then: how about ON THE COVER! You think I kid? Hell I would have my doubts if I hadn't seen it myself! The issue is Vol. 196, #2, dated August 1999. The cover merely says "Global Culture" and shows what appears to be a picture of Old and New Generation women in India, possibly a pseudo Mother & Daughter photo (obviously VERY posed). The Mother, in her 40's or 50's, as you might imagine is seated in a typical, traditional sarong ensemble, red with gold trim, beads and some flowers, etc. The "Daughter" on the other hand.......(ahem, ok, I will close my jaw now), the "Daughter" is wearing a wonderfully form-fitting skin tight PVC catsuit with a front zipper unzipped halfway down and a high, turned-up collar. Heavy deep maroon/burgundy lipstick, eye-shadow, etc. Boots that match the catsuit. Picture Selma Hayek in this get up and you'll get a pretty close idea. It really might not be such a big deal except that.....well, except that It's National Geographic! I mean geez! Talk about your WhiteBread Publications! Now here's the funniest thought: According to guys several generations older than me, good ol' Nat Geo was kind of the 'playboy magazine' of their era. Yes, believe it or not, people like your father or grandfather might well have considered the pictures of the half-naked women of some African tribe to be Pretty Racy Stuff! Now all of a sudden, Nat Geo has a cover that almost crosses the Sexy/Racy line of our time! About time, aye? ;-)

Hats off to National Geographic for showing that they too are joining us for the ride into a most interesting and more open minded 21st Century. :-)

(Note: I do not include JPEGs in INIQUITY NEWS as a rule because it would make the e-mail file WAY too big. However, if you would like to see the JPEG of this magazine cover for yourself, drop me a line and I can send it to you.)

Cool Fetish Internet Address

Last issue I told you all about Le Petite Chateau in New Orleans, the new back-bone to all manner of Fetish Activity going on down there, including their Gothic Fetish Ball the night before Halloween which promises to be quite the bash. Equally, I informed you that they had set up their own system of Hotmail / Yahoo - like free, web-based e-mail.  Here are the How-To's of that Fetish E-mail Address in better detail: Want an e-mail address that ends in "LeDungeon.com"? As in You@LeDungeon.com ?

It couldn't be easier. Simply head on over to http://mail.bigmailbox.com/users/ledungeoncom/

All the details are there. :-)

_____________

Wrap-Up

_____________

So many cool new indicators that the 21st Century will be a better place for Pervs. Sure it is a slow start and the signifiers are mostly in the fashion realm, but in a sense that is what will give us a better foot in the door than various alternative sexualities which have gone before -- the fashion aspect. When something becomes openly "fashionable" to the level of society where law-makers dwell, soon it finds the law stepping aside in related realms as people's minds are opened. Perhaps it is wishful thinking that the direct connection between Fetish Fashion and S&M will be easily seen and more openly acknowledged by this law-making strata of society (and the higher societies above them who influence their decisions....). Then again, with Talley speaking up, N.O.W. acknowledging, Playboy promoting, and National Geographic moving forward, maybe it isn't such a far-fetched idea after all. ;-)

Towards the realization of our Fetish Dreams.....
