Bettie Page Movie....

    "Martin Scorsese is attached to direct Liv Tyler in a biopic of Bettie Page, the country's first kinky pinup girl. The director and star have been enmeshed in talks for several months trying to put together a film, and it appears they will ship it to studios in the near future with Page's life rights as part of the package. "Considered royalty among cheesecake, Page became an underground cult figure and precursor to vamping femmes like Madonna because of her  willingness to pose nude and in kinky pictorials that included bondage, whips and leather. For Tyler, this would be a marked departure from virginal good-girl roles she's played in films ranging from "That Thing You Do" to "Stealing Beauty" and "Armageddon." But the actress is a dead ringer for the pinup princess with the girl-next-door looks.  "Bettie was the first progenitor of the pre-'60s sexual revolution, and she brought fetishism, bondage and forbidden sexuality to Middle   America in the days of Ozzie and Harriet,' Said Mark Mori, who controls the life rights of Page for a docu he's making and who sparked Tyler to the idea of doing a feature..."  "While Page is best remembered for her sexy poses, she bore the burden of being a cheesecake pioneer, including being grilled by a Senate committee investigating juvenile delinquency, essentially a witch-hunt orchestrated by a senator from her home state of Tennessee bent on exploiting her as a steppingstone to the White House. Page retired shortly after the photographer who discovered her was ruined as a result of the probe. She has shunned most public appearances since the late '50s..." (Ed. -- if anyone has more news on this film let us know. For the record, Ms. Page kind of disappeared and then only a few years ago she re-surfaced, apparently with hardly any knowledge of how famous she had become in underground circles. Apparently she didn't make a dime off her pervasive image in modern times. To her rescue came the artist Robert Blue and Sir James of The Chateau in Los Angeles, who created and promoted approximately 1000 lithographs of Robert Blue paintings with Bettie as the main subject. The lithographs, produced in limited edition and becoming instant collector's items, sold for hundreds of dollars each, and every penny went to Ms. Page herself. It seems chivalry is most certainly alive and well.)

"142 sign petition to end opposition to S/M"

    Rhonda Smith reports: "Members of an "S/M Policy Reform Project" distributed information and circulated a petition about the issue at the National Organization for Women's Lesbian Rights Summit last weekend, and a spokesperson for the  Project said 142 women at the summit signed its petition. The petition calls for NOW to stop opposing "the rights of adults to engage in safe, sane and consensual sexual expression they so choose, including S/M." Smith also states: "The S/M Policy Reform Project members contend that the 1980 NOW resolution incorrectly defines sadomasochism as an issue of "exploitation and violence." They want this language removed from the resolution, which is titled "Delineation of Lesbian Rights Issues" and outlines NOW's stance on pornography, sadomasochism, and public sex. The current NOW resolution identifies pornography and sadomasochism as issues of "exploitation or violence, not affectional/sexual preference/orientation." One of the women interviewed is quoted as saying, "We're ordinary people with extraordinary tastes. We're involved, productive members of society." Sokolowski reports, "Still, it's often a mistake to assume we know the warp and woof of an s&m lifestyle. The scene here and elsewhere is like a smorgasbord: People take a little bit of this, a lot of that, and none of the other. And there are extreme and light players. If, say, you like having your hands held down during sex, biting or even a light swat on the butt, you're into what some people call light s&m... Because of the stigma attached to their lifestyle, the Anchorage s&m community, like others, tends to be a close-knit group."

Pervy Films: Hong Kong Slides Into Modern Times with BLACK MASK

    For years we have associated Hong Kong films with one fast-paced action sequence after another and a flurry of fists and feet fighting for right and wrong. BLACK MASK is certainly no exception. What makes this movie stand out, besides the utterly magnificent martial arts of Jet Li, the movie's hero, is that in at least one very distinctly High-Fetish moment, the Hong Kong martial arts film industry gives us the very first glimpse that "they get it." From the start of the movie's plot, the film makes fun of itself in that the actual Black Rubber Mask, along with a series of hats, is so completely like "Kato" a la Bruce Lee's role as side-kick in the old Green Hornet series. It is openly joked about in the movie in fact. However, a rubber mask alone doesn't a Fetish moment make. Weaving a few more "gothy" elements helps further bring the visual quality ironically into modern times, sort the way the few non-fetish black trench coats of The Matrix (still my fave movie of the year and openly voted as "kicked Star Wars ass" at IQ2 by the crowd), did in that movie as well. For example, the leader of the villains in BLACK MASK only needed some Clairol Blue-Black to be a shoe-in at any Goth club around. The element however that truly stands out for those of us in Fetishland was a brilliant S&M/Fetish sequence woven seamlessly into the movie and absolutely presented as consentual, albeit freaky to the "good guys." As the images pass too fast to seriously affect the plot, listing the details here will hopefully make the shots a bit more meaningful. For starters, the technique known as "strapado" is one whereby the sub's arms are bound at the wrists in back and then the wrists are raised up towards the ceiling usually by a rope on a pulley or the like. The effect is that the torso automatically bends over. In all cases the subs feet remain on the ground and the arms are never raised to the point where shoulder joints could be endangered. In BLACK MASK, a particularly interesting character, in effect the femme fatale and a very strong female character at that, is initially discovered in this position in spike heels, leather wrist and ankle restraints, and a bit-gag. She is smiling in erotic pleasure. She is asked by the wanna-be "good guys" who think they are coming to her rescue if she is ok, and she emphatically nods "yes" with a clear undertone of "now leave us alone." In that moment the mass audience gets the clear message that despite the bondage, here is an attractive woman who is doing this Because She Likes It. What makes the whole scene particularly delicious is that she is also wearing an obvious Skin Tight Latex Dress, adding a very nice High-Fetish element. Again, it is a very fast scene, but it is well done and the message is certainly Fetish Friendly. Congratulations Hong Kong. For the record, there are other details to this scene which I will leave out because they are very important to the story, and the movie is definitely worth seeing. I can drop the hint though that it involves suspension...... ;-)

   Is it my imagination or does it seem like there is a TON of cool Fetish stuff happening all over the place??? Can't say I'm complaining though. ;-) Of course it helps if you are highly mobile, but as the IQ grows and we have more and more readers from outside of the Bay Area, it only seems natural that in return we are going to get to hear about more and more cool events from around the globe.
