Fetish Job Opportunities!

OK all you Fundless Freaks of the Fetish Firmament. You need cash, I need cash, everyone needs cash. So it's nice to know that we can still make a few honest bucks while indulging in our mutual aesthetic at the same time, aye? When I hear about this kind of stuff, it just seems natural to get the word out to our community. Who better to fill these artistic voids than we who live it and breathe it, rather than some Vanilla hack who checks out a pop-up version of the Story of O in an attempt to grasp our essence in one sitting? Lets face it: the world needs our artistic input even if only for the sake of accuracy. With this in mind, here are several opportunities for some of you to take a stab at "doin' yer thing" and getting PAID for it! ;-)
(special thanks to Rain & Petra for this info)

(Ed. -- know of other such opportunities? Send me info and I'll pass it on!)

BDSM / Fetish Writers Needed:
      1) "Call for submissions -- GUILTY PLEASURES: True Stories of Erotic Indulgences.
A book of True Gay, Lesbian, Bi, and Straight first-person accounts of explicitly sensual/erotic indulgences to be published by Rhinoceros Books (a division of Masquerade Books). GUILTY PLEASURES is a chance to share your own special secret sexual turn-on -- the one you feel just a little bit nasty about, but dearly love to indulge in.
This isn't a book about big guilts -- this is a book of mischievous tidbits of real life sexual indulgences, the little things and fantasies we all do that really turn us on: Dykes who really get off on gay porn, gay men who love American Gladiators, people who get turned on by peepshows and strippers, folks who love to get head while driving, who like Russ Meyer movies, who live to go to S/M parties, who get jazzed about covering a lover in chocolate...from the simple to the silly, from the extreme to the wild!
Articles/essays will be chosen on the basis of eloquence, irony, enthusiasm, sincerity, humor, but, most of all, must be TRUE and explicitly EROTIC. Preference will be given to gay, lesbian, transgendered, multigendered, and radical sexualities (such as S/M). Pseudonyms are acceptable, but all stories need to be followed by a brief biography or statement of self (such as age, orientation, gender, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: no bestiality, incest, excessive violence, or underage sexual interactions.
No reprints will be considered. Length: 1,000-4,000 words max. Payment: 2 cents per word ($40 for 2,000 words/$80 for 4,000 words approx.)
First Anthology Rights. Accepted stories need to be on disc, or submitted via email.
Deadline: October 1, 1998
     Contact: M. Christian, 41 Sutter St., #1012, San Francisco, CA 94104 Zobop@aol.com

2) "Call for submissions -- ROUGH STUFF: Tales of Gay Men, Sex and Power.
Seeking hot short fiction. A trade paperback to be published by Alyson Publications in late 1999, "ROUGH STUFF" will feature sexually explicit stories in which the exchange, use, or misuse of power is a major factor. We're looking for traditional leathersex stories about traditional leathermen, but also stories of skatepunks in bondage, middle-aged suburban slaves, college jocks who like working each other over, dominant Daddies, you name it.
The editors have a pronounced preference for stories that are well-crafted, wickedly original, nastily plotted, and sexually hot. Please don't just recycle the cliche's of S/M porn. Take us somewhere new. Astonish us. (Okay, well at least amuse us.)
We'll be looking for stories that are insightful, that deal with power relationships from a variety of angles. Stories that are set in a contemporary leather milieu should ring true. Genre elements are acceptable, but we're not looking for outright SF, horror, or fantasy. We'd like to see strong plots, and characters of any race, age, or appearance. Submission is open to all, but we'll have a preference for queer-identified male authors who speak (or sound like they speak) with the voice of experience.
The usual taboos apply: no one under 18 in a sexual situation, no animals. Please, no gratuitous gore or mindless shock-for-shock's-sake, but issues of violence, rape, and homicide will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Stories should be 1000-6000 words, submitted in clean hard copy. Include a cover letter with phone number, snail mail and email addresses, word count, and a short bio (if we don't know you). Let us know if the story has been previously published and where. Include a business-size SASE for correspondence. If you'd like your manuscript returned, you must enclose a suitable envelope with sufficient postage.
DEADLINE: October 1, 1998
PAYMENT: We're buying one-time anthology rights. Pay upon publication is 2 cents a word, 1.5 cents for reprints. Accepted stories will need to be sent on disc.
Manuscripts and queries to: M. Christian, 41 Sutter St. #1012, San Francisco, CA 94104 Zobop@aol.com

(Ed. -- one note: Masquerade Books, no relation to the club, has something of a rep. for shlock porn, and 'uncaring' publication or lack thereof. In other words, I have heard from more than one author who has had dealings with Masquerade Books that one shouldn't look at a Masquerade publishing as much of a stepping stone. A way to make a few bucks certainly, but little more than that. Occasionally Masquerade publishes a gem like Pat Calafia's "Sensuous Magic" which they then promote through the roof. Such occurrences are rare however from what I understand. Suffice it to say, be certain you are satisfied with their terms and make sure it's all in writing.)

BDSM Comic Artist Needed:
"A local, recognized Domina is writing a sex book for HarperCollins to be published the summer of 99'. This book is directed towards women who wish to learn about the psycho-sexual practicalities of doing female dominance/male submission. She is looking for a San Francisco Bay Area BDSM community member who is talented as a comic artist. Needed are approximately 15 large (8"x10") and 30 small (1.5"x1.5") pencil sketches. The sketch themes will be given to the artist. The pictures will all play off female dominance in a sexy and humorous way.
This is for pay up to $2000. It is also a chance for the named artist to be seen first on a national level as it will be in major bookstores, then internationally. Anyone with talent and motivation is welcome to e-mail the authoress at glamdom@earthlink.net.

Out-Of-Area Events Coming Up.....

17 Oct. (Saturday) -- <>>> Magazine Party; Los Angeles
Held in the Vampire Technology shop/warehouse, this will be <>>> magazine's first-ever U.S. event. The date is not firm yet. For more details, e-mail Vampire Technology at info@vampiretechnology.com. There will be a fashion show, 2 live bands, incredible metal sculptors, Fetish photography showings, BDSM performances, and other good stuff. Marquis magazine will have photographers there to shoot for their mag. Possibly strict fetish. Contact Vampire Tech at the above e-mail for more info.
Arcane says: <>>> mag has certainly been up there with the best Fetish magazines in the world. Some consider <>>> and Marquis to be amongst the top 3 or 4 such magazines, so you know their Fetishes, particularly rubber, will be sincere. Might well be worth the trip..... ;-)

Friday Nights (Ongoing) -- Exclusive Showing of the Film: "Preaching To The Perverted";
Los Angeles (and 10 other U.S. cities soon)
Friday nights only at The Nuart theater
11272 Santa Monica Blvd, West Los Angeles
For more info: 310 478 6479
** P.T.T.P. will tour ten US cities this summer & fall. **

(From the Press Release)
"This is the first cinema feature film set in the Fetish Club Scene. A controversial, off beat British film about sex rebels versus moral crusaders, Preaching to the Perverted is a humorous love story, a fast-paced, no holds-barred excursion into London's sexual underground. The story was inspired by the recent crack-down on the sexual activities of consenting adults in the UK and European courts. (Ed. -- q.v. Operation Spanner and the Spanner nightmare).
Lesbian icon Guinevere Turner (of "Go Fish") plays New York dominatrix Tanya Cheex, prosecuted when she comes to tour Britain with her show. Banned in Ireland and other territories, Preaching to the Perverted garnered much controversy on its UK release with resounding approval from magazines of cinema, music and club culture, contrasted by baffled hostility from some establishment critics. With stunning costumes and visuals, and a style both uncompromising and unapologetic, this film journeys headlong into a world of alternative sexuality for the end of the millennium."

Arcane says: Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, who I know who has seen this film likes it. It was made by Pervs for Pervs, and to educate the rest of the world. My recommendation: definitely check it out. :-)

Review -- The EUROPERVE in Amsterdam

(special thanks to England's inimitable Sebastian for this review) EUROPERV 8.
Europerv is the longest-running annual Fetish party in Holland, tied in with DeMask, Amsterdam's Fetish shop and perv clothing factory. For years it happened at Amsterdam Zoo - yes, honestly; the 1930's public hall and cafeteria had been the bizarrely appropriate setting for these parties. Caged animals inside and outside! I still cherish the '95 memory of the surreal sight of a line of crosses silhouetted against rows of flamingos the other side of the glass. Europerv, however had long out-grown this space and enjoyment of these events had been marred by the crush and public. Playing ran the risk of taking out eyes with your backswing. So Party Centre 2000, a warehouse space on the outskirts of the city was this year's venue. And it worked very well.
About 1,000 perverati attended from all over Europe and the US. Mistress Midori and Anna-Christine from Dark Garden represented San Francisco (with true star quality!) as well as Glenn & Donna from Miami's Fetish Factory and L.A. photographers Gary and Pierre Da Silva, ensuring that this was a truly international event. Staged action came courtesy of Lucifire's kitchly messy spawn of satan show, a melodramatic 'gothy' DeMask fashion show and a fine choreographed piece of stilt performance art from Corposant Productions - 'Highly Strung -- the Mistress and the Ballerina show.' All of which made for a pleasing, well-received variety on stage. (As director of the latter act, modesty inhibits me from further extolling its genius.)
Music policy was the usual house/techno mix which has been the accompaniment to rubber raving in the UK and in Europe since fetish clubbing was born. (Reading Iniquity reports - or should that be iniquitous reports - it seems to me that over on the West Coast you value a greater variety of music with Goth/Dark Wave and Industrial being your staples. In the UK, the clientele of Goth clubs in which such musics are popular might look superficially similar to those of Perv/Fetish clubs but the latter are marked by an absence of active pervery and a lack of equipment). Dress code at Europerv (clearly still a contentious issue with you over there in the US) was, as ever over here, closely adhered to and of a generally high standard although Holland tends to favour monochrome (any colour as long as it is black) and rubber remains the most popular fetish material.
So there you go, a view from over here. We had a good time and Amsterdam is a joyous little perv-friendly city in which to run riot."

Heh. It's Dark now. And Late. No I have not been writing this straight through. What kind of a fanatic do you think I am?? Oh, that kind....well, yes, ok. Sometimes.

You know I'm always interested in receiving news from anywhere on the planet r.e. anything Pervy, Fetishy or BDSM related (was that a redundancy? The terms do sometimes blur for me.....then again maybe that blurring is my mental shut down telling me it's time to close this issue and send it off).
