Review: "Area 101" Does It Again

________________________

If you haven't heard, Los Angeles has some SUPER-HOT new promoters who are rapidly gaining a reputation for some of the best Fetish Parties in L.A. They call themselves "AREA101" and rest assured that as a member of the IQ you will be kept up to date on their events. :-)

From a reader: "AREA101's party on December 17th was AMAZING. It was, hands down, the best Fetish party I've ever been to. Great entertainment and costumes. After the party it was plainly obvious that it had been one wild night!" Area101 regularly keeps INIQUITY Readers up-to-date when they are planning events. It looks like, in the future, when you see an event with their name on it you should definitely mark it on your calendar. ;-)

SKIN TWO RUBBER BALL 1999

__________________________________________

The votes are in: The 1999 SKIN TWO Rubber Ball was THEE BEST Rubber Ball in Years!!!

(From a reader..)

"This was my second trip to London, but my first Rubber Ball. It truly was a weekend experience, and drew participants from around the world. Little Havana, the site of the Launch Party, was a large restaurant and club just off Leicester Square. It was much larger than I thought it would be (two levels, plus private party areas), had a real Cuban feeling in the decor, and it made my American mind do a double-take to see posters advertising weekend getaways in Cuba! From there we moved on to the Imperial Gardens for the SM-art event. We all arrived at the Imperial Gardens and snaked around some narrow brick alleys to the door. As we waited, folks showed up from NYC, SF, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and of course, Atlanta. The Imperial Gardens event wasn't super crowded, and we were later to hear that Submission had an event that same night.... Imperial Gardens had three rooms - two dance areas, and a dungeon area. The club was about 3/4 full, because, as I mentioned, Submission had a party the same night. We left around 1 pm, and it was still goin' strong. The next night, Saturday, was the Torture Garden party at Mass, a converted church in Brighton. What a great party! I got there around 11 pm, and it was already jammed... By the time 3 am rolled around, there was little room to move, and everyone had a smile on their face! The dance floor was packed, shows were going on at one of the stages, all the chill out areas were full, and the line down the stairs to the dungeon area was long. The dungeon at this venue was excellent, with several dungeon masters (their "SM Pride" badges told us so) present.we attended the Fetish Fair at the contemporary arts museum. It was a really nice fair, with lots of variety of booths. Dark Garden had a booth. Once again, as time went on, the rooms got packed, and it was hard to get around.... That night, Sunday, was the Fetish Feast, also at Little Havana. As a venue for small parties and dinners, it really was great. When I had first gotten my tickets, I assumed it was a small restaurant, but was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the venue, and also at the great food. Most of the people attending Friday night also attended most or all of the events, so it was nice to really get to know them. Monday night, the premier event, the one we all flew over for, the Skin Two Rubber Ball. The venue, Fabric, had just recently opened. I had seen the info and floor plan on the web, and the buzz was all about this new place... Many people I met had complained about last year's Ball, and how they didn't like the location. Well, no complaints this year... Fabric had many appealing areas to dance, lots of bar space, several areas to sit and talk, and the party just circulated... It was crowded and hard to see the stage shows, but the addition of a closed circuit TV helped a lot! And what great outfits!!! It was incredible to just look around! High Fetish at its best!"

(and from another reader..)

"I loved The Rubber Ball! Actually, I liked Torture Garden better than the actual Rubber Ball. The reason is it was more intimate and had some smaller rooms where some more intimate S&M play was happening. The actual Rubber Ball was incredible from a pure visual standpoint but a bit overwhelming in terms of size. The new Fabric is a pretty amazing venue. I met a lot of great people at all events! I had a great time even at the actual Rubber Ball but Torture Garden was the highlight for me. The Fetish Feast was also a really nice surprise. I almost didn't go because I didn't think the food would be good but IT WAS AMAZING. An absolutely wonderful meal and the environment was really friendly and it was very easy to talk to people. I was jealous at how much excellent Fetish related stuff there is in London. The costumes and the dress were pretty darn good. Some absolutely AMAZING! And I did see some absolutely amazing play that I've never seen in public in the USA. The Fetish Feast was in Little Havana in Piccadilly. Torture Garden was at Mass in Brixton (another great venue, I would say the best venue for a fetish party I've ever attended) and the opening party (SM Art Bar) was at a place called Imperial Gardens in some godforsaken part of London (but the best play, in my opinion, happened there!)."

A "GOOD" BDSM SURVEY????

_________________________________________________

Is it possible? A survey using the magnitude of the Internet and its capacity for voluntary information gathering? Perhaps.. It seems one well-intentioned individual, namely published authoress Gloria Brame (author of Different Loving) sent word out all over the place for respondents from the BDSM Scene anywhere in the world to come online to her website and answer quite a large number of questions regarding the realities of BDSM in the modern world. The study ran for about 6 weeks, and received 8300 responses for the final calculations. Now mind you that this is no mere trivial study by some curious under-grad. The results of the study will in fact be presented to the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (IASHS). It will also likely be presented at some professional sexological conferences in 2000, according to the researcher, who will also be posting the results on her website for the free benefit of the Global BDSM Community at large. To find out the more about the survey (including the ability to access the original study), visit: http://gloria-brame.com/domidea/survey.html

From DEVIANT LIQUID LATEX:

"Hi folks...

Deviant is growing in leaps and bounds and with it comes some minor growing pains... Like trying to keep up with demands of wholesale and retail accounts here at the Deviant Empire. We're in need of someone(s) to help us out and we're looking for those sort of "in need" individuals that we might be able to sort of "help out of a bind for a while" (read: desperate and willing to work for practically free). OK, not actually for practically free, but send us your illegal cousins from Europe here on a travel visa only, your wife / mother-in-law / personal slave who just sits at home most of the time but is really good on a computer, your starving college student friend who would love to graduate from Top Ramen to Pasta-in-a-Box, etc. Deviant is looking for people to do some of the following (either from their own homes or ours):
Data entry in Microsoft Outlook and QuickBooks
Cold call sales/follow-ups
Order taking/write-ups
Bottle labeling/filling
Shipping
Swedish massage
Gardening
Box folding
Brochure mail outs
General clean-up and organization
Festival/Event/Tradeshow help and modeling (inc. Folsom Fair)
Scapegoating
Human Cloning
People with computer skills and no interest in starting their own Liquid
Latex company are given special consideration.
Barely legal Swedish nannies
OK.
Pay is negotiable, depending on what the individual(s) is doing and where
he/she is doing it from.
Benefits include a virtually endless supply of Liquid Latex, a lot of good connections, free coffee and a warm fuzzy feeling. Computer work can be done from almost anywhere, but in-house workers should be local in the South Bay. Thanks and let us know if you know of anyone looking for part-time work relating to above!

Write to: Deviant@LiquidLatex.net

Sincerely,

Your exhausted Deviant friends"

From House of Abductor Video Studios:

"Perv Production Assistants Needed:

We're looking for a person or persons who are willing to work part time 30 to 40 hours week in San Francisco. This is not a high paying job, but would certainly pay better than delivering pizzas or working at a retail store. In case you don't know us, we run a small but growing business, consisting of a successful number of bondage/fetish websites, mostly either providing images and stories, or selling videotapes and merchandise. I also have some other business concerns, mostly in software. There is a possibility of advancement. My plans are pretty vast and sweeping and while nothing is certain, I would certainly promote loyal and dependable people as my business grew. Duties and hours are flexible. The ideal person would be someone who would help fulfill videotape and other orders from our mail order business, scan images and post web pages, run errands, assist during film shoots, sell merchandise at events, even a software tester! That may mean I need anywhere from 1 to 4 people depending on how many of those tasks each person can do. Just to be clear the person or persons mustn't have a problem with adult content of any sort and I think it goes without saying they need to be at least 18. Once committed, I need the person to be hard-working and reliable, and occasionally able to help out with things in a spur-of-the-moment situation (provided it doesn't conflict with the person's other responsibilities in life). I think that the person most suited to this work would be a student, or someone who just moved to the area and doesn't yet have a lot of expenses, or someone who hasn't yet figured out their direction in life, or maybe a spouse looking to pick up some extra income while taking on a new challenge. But if you want or need the work, you are welcome to apply. And please pass this along if you know of someone else who might be interested."

Ropework for your next Party: TWO KNOTTY BOYS

_________________________________________________

I have seen some intriguing entrepreneurial ideas before but at least for perversion-factor this one ranks as one of the most fun: Two Knotty Boys. For a modest fee you can hire these two bondage experts to set up a display and booth wherein your guests may come to experience a bit o' bondage. The ropework of these two people is no shoddy deal either -- we are talking true, artistic ropework here: complicated knots, rope corsets, body harnesses and more.

>From the KNOTTY BOYS themselves:

"Two Knotty Boys -- Tying one on at fetish clubs near you!

Expert bondage riggers JD and Dan will be appearing at local fetish clubs offering their beautiful wearable rope work! Choose the design you want, including Breast Pieces, Arm Gauntlets, Rope Corsets, Rope Panties, Diamond Dress (Tortoise Shell) and more. Then get yourself or your partner tied up -- right there on the spot. You keep the rope! Dance in it. Play in it. Go home in it. (The rest is up to you.) You can also get a Polaroid? picture for posterity -- and a free lesson in how to do the design yourself! We can even rig your submissive into functional restraint bondage (including hog tie and Japanese-style bondage) if you're playing at the club. Prices for wearable pieces are inexpensive (depending on complexity and length of rope) and include the rope, a quick lesson and a drawing of the design, plus important safety tips. Special design requests cheerfully fulfilled. Don't just fantasize. Get into the spirit and participate!

For more info, prices and more, send us an e-mail at Knots2U@hotmail.com

Look for us at selected events in the community, like Club BOUND in San Francisco."

Review: The Superb Fetish Side of PARIS

_________________________________________________

(thanks to C. C. for this article)

"When in Paris.... Iniquity, as it turns out, has a sister organization known as Equalizer, in Paris, France. Like us, this group consists of gorgeous, fashionable Pervs who love sex & Fetish. They meet monthly for dinner and parties at the (thanks to HBO) world famous club Cleopatre on the Avenue D'Italie in Pari. The venue itself was designed by a woman and is a sensuous mix of dungeon mazes, a dining area, a bar, a dance floor, and an erotic boutique. We attended the July Equalizer event known as Fetish Delice. We chose to ride the metro to the Place D? Italie metro stop in our street clothes, so we arrived at Cleopatre looking for a place to change. As soon as we arrived at the door we were greeted by a man dressed in full latex, who welcomed us and phoned inside to gain our entree. The Club members gave us a very warm welcome and escorted us to the changing area where we slipped into our usual latex and P.V.C. fair. After some socializing, voyeurism, and the purchase of a new metal collar for Slave S. we were joined on the dance floor by a woman who proceeded to unabashedly play with the newly collared slave. We retreated briefly to discuss these enticing circumstances and upon our return found our friend fully engaged in a full blown scene with another couple right on the dance floor. Naturally, this sparked our curiosity so we did another round of the dungeons and were amazed by what we found. Without going into explicit detail we can honestly say that the Parisians know how to do Fetish! We proceeded to go ahead with our own scene in the dungeon which is very, very elegant to say the least. The night continued with many other Gorgeous and bizarre Parisian creatures joining us for various mini scenes, including one male sub who begged to lick Slave S' boots while we played with another of the exquisite beauties of Equalizer. We didn't get back on the subway until it was daylight the next day, and still can think of almost nothing else but our night with Equalizer. There is, however, satisfaction in having acquired a singular goal: A return to Pari. Also when in Paris there is a must see Fetish Boutique in the Les Halles district off the Rue St Dennis known as Philia. It is a store with the most amazing collection of latex, PVC and accessories I have ever seen. I found it even better than that darling of Skin Two known as Paradise Fashion in London, even though it is slightly smaller. This is where we found the info about Equalizer along with info about other fetish events we were unable to attend. The proprietor is himself an ultra cool Fetish Scene player who speaks English if you are polite; he even helped us find Cleopatre and another club on our "toron" (that's half tourist half moron) map. ;-)

Ahh Paris c'est tres Beau."

VAULT, HELLFIRE, LA MAISON DE SADE, & SOME FETISH SHOPPING TIPS!

(thanks to reader Lynne)

"New York S & M.

Here is a little sample of the S&M scene as my boyfriend and I experienced it during our recent trip to New York. Mind you, these are only the clubs open and available to the public. I can't speak for the private clubs. There are two well known clubs in New York. The Vault and the Hellfire Club. I had been to the Hellfire Club once before, and having heard that the Vault was SO much better, I made a point of trying it. It wasn't easy. The club was in the process of moving to a new location, so it was in a transitional period. I had a little trouble tracking it down. My two contacts in New York were unable to locate an address for me. Somehow, I got a phone number, but was still confused after trying to decipher the message which was recorded with a very thick New York accent. Finally, we spoke to a live person, were assured that the club was functioning in its temporary location, and were given the address. One short cab ride later, we found ourselves in a deserted neighborhood. There were two people outside. One hailing a cab, and one loiterer. There were no indications that a club existed. We entered the only logical door and found ourselves in an elevator lobby. It was small, dark and unoccupied by life forms. Soon we were joined by the loiterer, as well as the guy who had been hailing a cab. The cab hailer said he wanted to go back in (now that we arrived, I guess) and the loiterer told him he'd have to pay again. An argument ensued. Finally, the loiterer (or door man) escorted us onto the elevator, pushed a button and asked us for $30.00. No mention was ever made of a club at all. Once we arrived on the mystery floor, we found that we were actually in an apartment. The living room area was fairly crowded with people, lounging on couches and watching porno on TV. We, being dressed in our most extreme fetish wear, immediately drew a crowd. They are not shy in NY, I must say. We couldn't move in either direction for the wall of humans and their various body parts pressed up against us. We forced our way through the apartment, looking for the play areas, and found none. There were no toys, no furniture, and no one playing in any way. There were mounds of blankets on the floor of one big room. But nothing else. We were harassed by the locals encouraging us to "do something". We were "accidentally" touched by almost everyone as we made our way back up to the front, with our group escort in tow. Once we found an alcove of privacy, we had a small discussion of the possibilities, the very, very bad possibilities, and left $30 poorer. Being all dressed up with no place to go, we decided to try the Hellfire club. I remember thinking it was not all that savory last time I was there but after the Vault experience it seemed, pretty good. The club is located one level below ground in the West Village and has a very dungeon like atmosphere. I give it big points for that. There is a large room with a "bar" in the center. However, there is no alcohol served. I imagine they sell soft drinks and water. Surrounding this large room are many play areas. There are little cave like rooms with bars on them. There are also larger rooms, one of which features a motorcycle for your fun and amusement. There are plenty of places all around the big room to tie up your slaves. The night we went there was a special spider-web of chains from floor to ceiling at one end of the room. That is where we chose to play. Also in this room are many pieces of furniture, certainly something for everyone's taste. This was a Friday night, which, although it wasn't advertised this way, seemed be mostly a gay and or transvestite crowd. There seemed to be no interest in heterosexual play. Most of the small crowd that night were hanging out in the very back hall of the club where each of the small rooms was occupied by a transvestite who seemed to be entertaining clients. All in all, there was very little playing going on. The other time I went was a Saturday night, and there was a much more pansexual crowd. There was a lot of playing going on, but there were also crowds of people who clung to newcomers such as the "group escorts" I described at the Vault. Many was the time I had to swat away someone who was touching me or placing a part of their anatomy against me, against my will. As I said, New Yorkers are not shy. I've never had that particular problem in California! So these are the two non-membership clubs that I know of. I don't want to pass judgment on either one. I just want to share what I saw in case anyone is interested in trying them. I plan to go back to the Vault once it is finally settled in it's permanent location. Perhaps it already is. Our visit was in early September. I've heard good things about it, and don't want to discount it based on its temporary location. And I'll probably try the Hellfire Club again as well. I like the atmosphere.

The Hellfire club is located in the
West Village
#28 9th Avenue
New York, NY
(212) 647 0063
http://www.HellfireClubNY.com

It has toys for loan in case you forgot yours. There is no sex allowed at this club, although the rules phrase it in a much more vulgar way.

The Vault is located at:
565 W. 23 St. in New York City
http://www.clubvault.com/

I don't know if they loan out equipment. But wouldn't you rather use your own? As far as I could discern, they did not serve alcohol. And I am not aware of their rules. I believe they, too, are open till dawn. Now for an unexpected treat. As we were traveling from one club to the other, we happened to pass a place with a huge neon sign that said "La Maison de Sade". It looked like a restaurant, although I couldn't get a really good look at it from the cab. The next day I found an add for it in the NY tourist guide that we found in our hotel room. It claimed to be an S&M restaurant. My mind was completely boggled at the thought of it, so I called them. They told me it was a bar and restaurant, and that it was fine to just stop by for a drink. We donned some of our casual fetish wear. This was, after all, supposed to be a public restaurant, so we kept it PG rated. To our surprise, it was indeed a restaurant. It was filled with people having dinner. It was a large open room of tables and banquets. It was beautifully decorated with padded leather walls, and all manner of detail suggesting restraint. And there, in the middle of the restaurant, was a large rack. And cuffed to the rack was Mr. Generic Yuppie restaurant patron, getting wax poured down his back by a well-endowed and beautiful dominatrix. And did I mention there is a large picture window at the front of the restaurant where all passers by can view the action? Yes, I can imagine stopping in after work for some drinks, and later, having my boss walk by only to find me tied up, with my pants down, getting a good spanking. Oh the joy of running across a weird scene such as this! I'd say 90 percent of the crowd were non-players, there to coax their friends into having a little fantasy. There were seductive waitresses, and topless waiters, a little something for everyone. There were two domanatrixes working that evening. We sat at the bar where we found, not only the drink menu, but the punishment menu as well! For a nominal fee (about $20), you can be humiliated or punished in a number of ways. During the course of the evening we saw many floggings, lots of wax play, I had my boots licked by a dog man on a leash, and we observed a large man in diapers and a high chair, being fed ice cream. There are many other options, I am sure. A foot note on the menu says, "Not responsible for marked or swollen property." There was an excellent display of toys and masks behind the bar. I was just incredulous that something like this was not only in existence, but doing a thriving business! We stayed at the bar watching and marveling for a few hours, and had a great time. The bartender even bought us a few drinks, which seems to be a rare occurrence in New York. I highly recommend this as one of your stops while visiting New York.

The Maison de Sade is located at:
206 West 23rd Street
New York City
(212) 727 8642
http://www.lamaisondesade.com

No cover charge. No dress code. No play between customers. Open till 4:00am Last but not least: Shopping!

I highly recommend THE NOOSE at
261 W. 19th Street
New York, NY
(212) 807 1789.

It's a beautiful store and we got an excellent deal on latex there. Also, mostly for the ladies:
PURPLE PASSION
242 West 16th Street
New York, NY (between 7th and 8th)
(212) 807 0486
http://www.purplepassion.com

Also for generally excellent Fetish and Gothic shopping go to the East Village. Specifically, St. Marks Place between 1st and 3rd Avenue. One of my favorite stores, Religious Sex, is hiding under a stairway just off of 3rd Ave on the North side of the street.
