(Ed. -- OK folks. I know there are some serious Leather People on the INIQUITY list. If any of you attend, you'll write me a review, right? Also, if anyone out there has been to a previous event such as this, PLEASE send me some Subjective Opinions of past events -- what did you / didn't you like about it? The sooner I get info from those who know, the sooner I can better inform the rest of us on this list. Note that although I have never been to this event, from similar events I have been to I can tell you that Fetish Fashion is NOT generally a serious concern. S&M is much more the focus, but regardless you do end up meeting cool people from all over the U.S. )

Got a Craving to Do Time?

(Ed. -- some of you may have seen this before; I THINK I included it in a much earlier INIQUITY NEWS, but unfortunately my records of such are, as most of you know, history. Therefore, having found this in my "news to send" list from an old back-up, and since it's kinda cool anyway, I present here for the sake of all the new sign-ups.........er, and in case I did not send it at all.) ;-)

London:
According to USA Today, visitors to London can now arrange to spend a night in HM Prison Brixton, a maximum security prison in south London.
Those who've fantasized about spending a night on Alcatraz now have an option. Brixton "Nick" is still apparently being used as a prison, to quote the Governor. Indeed, it seems that the cells used by the paying guests are refurbished 19th century cells, (how kind of them) which suggests that they are in a separate wing from the cells used by the, umm, guests detained at Her Majesty's Pleasure...
Incidentally, it also seems that Brixton Nick houses Britain's official gallows, which hasn't been used for 35 years, but must still exist since the death penalty remains on the statute books for (1) "High Treason" and (2) "Arson in a Naval Shipyard."
(Ed. -- don't be too surprised; apparently Mince Pies are illegal in England! From an old law during the Plague Era wherein the meat used for the mince was thought to carry the plague.)

AND A QUICK PORTLAND RESOURCE LIST:

BEYOND THE EDGE CAFE closes!
"I'm sure that many of you have heard the sad news that BTE has closed its doors. Basically, the cafe has never been able to support its owners. I don't know how many of you have tried to run a business, but small restaurants are one of the hardest to turn a profit. As much as we'd like to think that the BDSM community could support the cafe, it wasn't true."
(Ed. -- having never been but having heard wonderful things about Portland's BDSM Themed Restaurant known as BEYOND THE EDGE CAFE, I am saddened to think I shall never get to experience it's atmosphere. Let it be said now that INIQUITY will GLADLY help publicize ANY establishment of a BDSM Theme which is not usually so, be it an S&M Cafe, Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Ice Cream Parlor, etc, etc, etc, anywhere in the world. If you know of one, please send them my way.
Speaking as someone who worked in a Fetish Coffee Shop in Amsterdam and frequented an S&M-Themed Coffee Shop (with it's own dungeon) in the same town -- and saw both of them go under -- I would like to make INIQUITY a vehicle whereby these establishments can have a better chance of success. The ones I have been to and been associated with were extremely special environments where one could chill and feel at home amidst an ambiance of their favored aesthetic. They were meeting places for all manner of Fetish folks, spots where we knew we could always stop in on any given day and find someone to chat with over an espresso, hang out amongst good company, or simply find a quiet place to be amongst like-minded folk. They were magic and they were nexus' for various aspects of the larger BDSM and Fetish Fashion community. In short, they deserve our support and they deserve to survive.)

Wrap Up

Well, there you go. The first INIQUITY NEWS for 1999. INIQUITY will still attempt to have it's monthly sponsored parties at The Power Exchange, which are kind of like really perverted social gatherings where people go back and forth between conversations and whipping each other. Look for them around the Full Moon. ;-)
Club INIQUITY will return. We are currently scouting a few VERY promising venues and narrowing the choices down. You know how high my standards are, so you can trust that I am looking forward to getting all of you the best venue I can for our kind.
INIQUITY exists because of your contributions! I welcome ANY and ALL Fetish/BDSM reviews/news/stories, etc, From Any Part Of The World. Please use the Iniquity Contact Form for all correspondence.      That's about it for now folks. It has been one damn good Fetish Season, and it ain't over yet.... ;-)

Towards the Perviest of Our Fetish Dreams.....
